is involved and how long does it take for inspection and repair?

What is that on my Santa Fe

We’ve had our Santa Fe’s for 3 years now and today discovered something
on our dash. It is not referenced in the owner;s manual but is shown on
the diagram. It is located above – maybe 1 1/2 inches – the ignition
and perhaps 1/2 inch to the right. Perhaps it is a light for the
ignition or a sensor for the A/C???

Any one know?

Ipod Connection

I recently bought a 2010 Elantra Touring Hatch. It came with a hookup
cable for an Ipod that allows me to control the Ipod through the radio.
What’s unclear to me is whether the Ipod, if left attached to the cable,
drains the battery if the radio and engine are turned off. Thanks for any
info.

Tachometer Questions (Elantra)

Hello,

Son has a new Elantra.

Question concerning the Tachometer.

It seems it is pretty much always on 1,500 or so.
Might go to 2,00 if hard accelerating, but that’s about as high as it
ever seems to get.

1,500dial goes all the way to 8,000 or possibly 10,000; don’t recall)

a. Is this 1,500, nearly irrespective of the
driving condition, normal ?

b. Am I right that it is supposedly reading the rpm before the
transmission gearing; in other words, the true engine rpm (only) ?

c. And, I guess I am always wondering why just about all the mfg’s put
tachs in their cars, even those with automatic transmissions.

I can understgand if it’s in a manual shifter, but for an auto ?
Does anyone, ever, even look at the thing ?

Good picks, but should of trade Osi first

Osi would of generated a good return for a trade (a second round
pick), but now teams know the Giants are going to try and dump Osi
thus we are looking at possibly a 4th round pick at best.

Personally, I like the top picks. The Giants understood that it all
starts at the trenches. Doesn’t matter if you have all-world LBs and
secondary but if the trench can’t get to the QB or close the gaps at
the line, the QB and RB will have all day to throw or all kinds of
holes to run to.

Good picks in my opinion if they pan out as advertised.

Question re:30k Service- Santa Fe

We have a 2007 Santa Fe, due for a 30k service.

When I called the dealer, they told me that’s the ‘first big service’, takes
3-4 hours, cost about $450…

Ouch, what do they do?? A look a the maintenance schedule didn’t indicate
this… or did I misinterpret?

Even if it is the gas cap (and I suspect it is) the lite will not go off
until a certain number of drive cycles have been completed. May take a
while. Best bet is to have AutoZone turn it off and then see if it comes
back on.

2007 Santa Fe Headlight

Noticed this morning as wife was leaving the driveway, that the driver’s
side headlight is no longer functioning.

Has anyone had to fix their headlight? How much work is it. Is it just
a bulb replacement or will I have to replace an assembly?

I recently learned that my local Hyundai dealership is going out of
business. Rumor is that the franchise has been bought by a mega-dealer
and will be relocated 20 or so miles distant. This makes the dealer
close to 40 miles away rather than 20 miles away and on my way to work.

What a bummer! So much for buying another Hyundai.

It also appears that much of the staff at the current dealership will be
laid off. I hope hyundaitech tech didn’t work there! That might be why
he has gone silent.
