Accent Bent Valves

2001 Accent 1.6 lost a timing belt and took out  some of the valves. If I
pull the head myself and get it rebuilt, is there anything else internally I
have to worry about?

Dash Lights stay on, 2001 XG

Went to start up today & only click, click. Charged up the battery for the
first time since buying new in 2001 & away it started. But now tonight I can
see that even after removing the key & locking up the dash lights remain on.
The interior lights go out on the timer OK etc. but those darn dash lights
stay on. Disconnected the battery under the hood & I could here a relay
somewhere click.
Any ideas folks.
Thanks,

2007 Hyndai Elantra SE

What is supposed to happen on the 07 Elantra SE when the lock button is
pressed twice on the remote key fob?  The doors do lock, but there’s neither
a "chirp" (which the quick guide says there should be) nor do the hazard
lights flash (which the owners manual says should happen).  It’s a bit
frustrating when you get told two different things, and neither happens.
The hazards do flash twice when the unlock button is pressed, it’s the lock
button that’s messed up.  I’m going to bring it back to the dealer next
Saturday, but I want to know what I should expect.  Thanks.

05' Tiburon Clutch Pedal Squeak

So I dropped by my dealership today to pick up an oil filter and kill some
time while my wife is in the cloth store.

My clutch pedal recently developed a slight squeak on the out stroke, just
as you are about to take your foot completely off. That is to say, a slight
squeak is heard in the last 1" of travel, in the free play range.

Seeing that I was at the dealer I asked the ‘adviser’ to have someone bend
down and put a dab of grease or whatever pleases them to make the little
squeak go away.

He said they would have to drop the transmission to be able to fix the squeak.
I said "yeah right" thinking he was pulling my leg, but then he continued
to go on saying to bring it in next week becase they would have to put it
up on the hoist and drop the tranny in order to check out this squeak. I
had him jump in the car and try to hear the squeak but he could not hear
it. Too much road noise from the freeway nearby, I guess.

I told him don’t bother … I’d live with it (intending to go home and spray
some WD-40 or something).

Is this guy for real? Why on earth would one have to trop a tranny to fix
a squeak that is likely coming from the spring or some other moving part
under the dask — not in the tranny.

Wayne Moses

2000 Elantra False Misfire?

Hello,

I have a 2000 Elantra with 134,000 miles on it.  The problem is a
misfire on cylinder 2 (autozone).  Originally it was on 1 and 3 I think
(autozone) but disconnecting battery has cleared code.  CEL (check
engine light) stays lit, blinks and sometimes turns off for a while.
When I first changed plugs it stayed of for about 100 miles or so.

Problem is I can’t notice any performance issues when light is blinking
or otherwise.  Car runs as if nothing is wrong.  The only slight thing
I notice is at idle, the rpm’s move very very slightly from say 800
down to 750.  It does this in a rythmic pattern.  Almost seems normal
to me.

Here is what I have tried so far.

plugs – replaced with new
wires – replaced with new
coil – replaced with used coil
acceration sensor – replaced with new
injector cleaner – lucas and seafoam brand.

It seems like the light is coming on less and is blinking less often.
Could be my imagination though.

FALSE MISFIRE?

I am not the original owner and have only had the car a few weeks.

Any advise is appreciated….

P0303 Code Update

Plugs and wires have been in service for approx. 10,000 miles.  Reversed
plug 2 and 3, still getting P0303 code only.  Replaced ignition coil, no
help.  Motor runs great off idle through the entire power band, (that’s why
I don’t think the plugs or wires are the problems).  Gets same mpg’s.  Only
have rough idle condition.  Noticed lately that engine rpm will increase
slightly then back down to rough idle.  Any component you can think of that
would cause that condition?  Thanks for all the help.

Check Engine Light Comes on For No Reason

Does anybody know why a check engine light in the 2004 Tiburon would
come on? It came on several months ago, and was serviced. A sensor was
replaced. About a week later it came on again, was serviced again with
the same sensor replaced. The light came on a third time, where upon it
was found that the "board was loose" and plugged back in.

Now, recently the car was serviced by a new person (got it back late
last week). Today, the check engine light comes on! Am I right to be
suspicious that the dealership did something when it was originally
serviced?

Another thing…the car was involved in a crash where the passenger air
bag went off, but not the driver side. There was no passenger! Could
the non-deployment of the driver air bag be related to the check engine
light? Because, trust me, the air bag should have gone off! (Head on
crash… fast enough speed…)

Thanks!

2003 Accent tape deck stuck

Hi,

The tape deck on my 2003 accent is stuck with a tape in it. I tried
holding the eject button for 5 seconds as the manual suggests and it didnt
help. I also checked TSB’s and they said the same thing. Is there any way to
get it out without causing damage ? The radio works fine, just the tape part
is messed up.

      thanks,
                  DaveV
