scosche wire harness for 06 Sonata (need to know info)

For those of you that own an 06 Sonata GLS and plan to install an
aftermarket stereo, be advised that scosche is sending wire harnesses
that have an inline circuit board.  the circuit board is covered by a
little black plastic cover.  The circuit board contains some
capacitors and some resistors that will severely degrade the audio
quality.  You will need to cut all the wires attached to the circuit
board and simply go  wire for wire, attaching the wires to the
corresponding color.  This will allow the amp in your head unit to
power the speakers.  There is a harness that scoshe makes that does
not have the in line circuit board but I am not certain of the model
number.  I cannot claim to have figured this out myself.  Another
reader of this sight, John, figured this out as we were both having
the same problem with poor audio quality.  I thought this would be
helpful to anyone else attempting an install in the near future.
My dash looks great with the aftermarket head unit installed. I
encourage anyone else to do the same.

HELP replacing lug bolts, having trouble

i broke off a lug bolt while changing the brakes on a 2003 santa fe,
after i removed the rotor in order to get to the lug bolts, i noticed
that the bolts still arent free enough to tap out and replace, the
"hub" (maybe?) that they are threaded through in which the axel is
splined through  is too close to a dust shield that prevents the lug
bolts from backing out, the little lip on the bolts are just big
enough to NOT let them be removed, without taking off whatever they
are threaded though.  i tapped out the broken bolt and  it cant back
out far enough to allow the ridgid little teeth that are on the bolt
head to allow for some wriggle room.  but just plainly put, you cant
back out the lug bolts without taking something other than the rotor
off, but i dont know how to take whatever is left off.  i have a hub
puller and when i tryed to pull the part (that the bolts are threaded
through) it just pushed the axel further and further back inside the
housing, i was afraid that i was gonna break something or push the
axel all the way out of the bearings…can anyone let me know what i
need to do?

thanks in advance.

p.s. how safe is the wheel (front right) with just 4/5 lug nuts
tightened? is it that dangerous with one lug not attached?

Gasoline instrument!

Hello everybody!

I have a small problem with my instrument table in my Hyundai Lantra 1.8GLS.
When I turn off a car, so when no electricity is supply to the instrument
table, I recently discovered, that the gasoline needle won’t go down. So, if
I am clear: all needles (speedo- and RPM, temperature) are positioned to the
minimum (to number 0), except the needle for gasoline information shows the
ammount of gas. It means, if the car has been fully filled up with gas, the
needle shows maximum all over again also when the car is not working (and the
key is pulled out).

What should be the problem?

Thanks for all answers,
Regards, Bojan.

2002 Sonata Owners manual ?

Hy all,

I just bought a 2002 Sonata from the first owner.
He took great care of it and I’m very satisfied.
The only problem is that he lost the owners manual somewhere….
Does anybody know where I could find a scanned or a pdf version to download
?
Also are there any instructions how to replace the AC air filter ? I tried
looking above the passenger feet under the dashboard but couldn’t figure how
to remove the plastic case ?

Thaks a lot

Mr. Hyundaitech Again

I all of a sudden have a problem on my ’02 Hyundai Elantra.  My son has no
instrument panel lights.

He had put in a different radio, and indeed, the radio works fine.

I diagnosed the problem as a blown fuse.  I found and replaced the faulty
fuse, tried the lights, and instantly the fuse blew again.

That tells me it’s a short.  I know that often a short is nothing more
complicated than finding a bare wire somewhere that is touching where it
shouldn’t, and putting some black electrical tape around it.

Here is my question.  Since the fuse blows instantly, and hence I have no
current, how does one find such a short?

I have been told that good mechanics sometimes work hours trying to find the
problem, and then I have seen some of these found and fixed in five minutes.

I guess it is here where I show my limited ability to work on cars.  Any
ideas for me.

Thanx in advance!

200 Elantra Fuel door Latch

The cable came unhooked from the pull handle beside the driver;s seat
which caused the fuel door to remain open (the latch seems stuck open
for some reason). I have reattached the cable, but the latcg remains
open. I have removed the latch from the car and see it seems to be made
of 2 pieces. However, I don’t know how to open it. Does anyone have
experience with this? Thanks.

Oil pan 97 Elantra 1.8 motor – Do I have to drop the exzust pipe :(

I have a 97 Elantra with a 1.8 motor, 5 sp.  160K miles  I am in the
middle of replacing the oil pan and need to know if there is a way
around removing the exzust pipe.  The motor brace and mounts were not
too bad but I wonder about the exzust pipe.

I can’t remove the oil pan.  The crank shaft and exzust pipe are making
it a pain!!

Any help would be appreated.
Thanks
