I have noticed rain water dripping drops in to the interior of car’s cabin
area. I’m the second owner the vechile has 63k mile. Is the rubber seal
covered by the 100k warranty of my sonata?

Replacing old speedometer, how do I reset actual miles ??

My odometer has too few miles on it because the fuse for the
speedometer kept blowing out — it was a problem with the windshield
wiper motor, which shares the fuse.

I want to reset the actual milage in case I have to bring the car in
for engine warranty work.

How do I find the real miles, is that stored in the ECU ??

How do I reset the odometer ??

Thanks in advance, John

Air filter box in accent

Hello people

I have a 2005 accent and I was looking for air filter. I wanted to change
stock for a K&N filter when I read about a guy that just took off the black
box that connects to the stock air filter. He wrote that it helped the
performance of the car and the sound, but I wanted to ask you guys how this
affects the car, does it really helps or does it actually damage the car

2003 Accent: old vs. new model

Hi all.

Looking for advice here. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Thanks in part to this newsgroup I’ve been surfing the Internet for
info on Hyundai. I still plan to seriously look at an ’07 Elantra for
my next car, when the new Elantra finally hits the streets. (Should not
be long now.)

Anyway, a local reputable used car dealer has several used Hyundais for
sale. Just for fun, I looked up all the info I could find about all of
them. The 2003 Accent piqued my interest. There’s at best an outside
chance I would seriously consider buying an Accent, since it’s just too
small, but….how does one tell if an ’03 Accent is an ‘older’ or
‘newer’ version?

It’s important because the newer version gets much better marks for
safety in NHTSA crash testing. We’re talking better by a wide margin
here, for reasons that are not clear to me.

The NHTSA site lists the cut-off date as Dec. 20, 2002 and Jan. 5,
2003, respectively, for the two crash test results that changed. I know
the factory sticker on the car door or wherever should provide the
month it rolled off the assembly line….but as far as I know it does
not give the precise date.

Is there any way to tell from the sticker, the VIN or whatever, just
when the car was assembled? The first few digits of the VIN on the car
in question are: KMHCG45.

Also the model I looked at from the local dealer has side airbags,
which were optional for the ’03 Accent. Does that by itself mean the
car is a later release model and does the presence of side airbags by
itself mean the car gets the newer, much higher crash test scores?

Sorry if these are silly questions. I’m still feeling my around the
online world of Hyundais and cars in general.

Thanks and regards,
Eric M

EVAP system code-I'm being taken for a ride

Help My 2001 Sonata check engine light came on and the codes came back for
EVAP system leak small and large.  I’ve had mechanics tell me the fuel
filter needed to be changed (which I did) and that spark plugs need to be
changed also, as well as air filter and about anythign else they can come
up with. Do any of these have anything to do with the EVAP system.  Car
will give a little lurch when driving it and then not accelerate well and
feel sluggish to drive.  I get different stories from every place I take
it and am desperate for some info from anyone who can help as money is
tight and I don’t have cash for extraneous repairs!

How far can I drive while the low fuel light is on?

My car is Hyunday Elantra VE 2005, the fuel tank is 55L, while the low fuel
light it on, normally I can add about 40L gas. Since there’s about 15L gas
left in the tank, I can still drive at least 100Km in local without any
refill, am I right?

How to remove rear seat?

I want to remove the rear seat on my 2 door Accent and take a look  at
the fuel filter underneath. There are 2 clips in front that allows me
to lift up but there are two bolts at the back which prevents removal
of the seat. The bolts are hidden by the seat back but I can feel
them. Do I just loosen these with the seatback in place?

Seat belt warning chime

The seat belt warning chime on my 1999 Elantra rings sporadically but
very often when I DO have my seat belt on. It is extremely annoying.

Intermitent electrical issues are the hardest things to diagnose and my
dealership can’t fix it.

Does anyone know how to disable this or at least muffle the sound?

I always buckle up so please don’t reply that I need this warning chime
for safety. Driving with this chime constantly going off is the biggest
danger as my stress level goes up!
