Strange problem with EXCEL 1.3 (year: 1995)

Hello,

My Dutch Hyundai EXCEL 1,3L has a very strange electronical problem,
which occurs regularly, but more often since a week  .

During the ride the engine starts to vibrate more than normally (maybe
due to inefficient combustion????), whereafter the CHECK ENGINE light
is displayed. The problem recently occured sometimes without the CHECK
ENGINE light going on as well.

Then suddenly all power flows away, till the speed is near zero, and
after that the engine suddenly starts to run at maximum revs. During
this whole process the engine doesn’t at all react on the accelerator.

The Hyundai dealer tried to remedy the problem by replacing the
crankshaft position sensor, because that had happened to be a weak
part of the EXCEL-series. The repair didn’t help.

Do you know a solution  ?

Re: Is climate control upgradable?

You’re oversimplifying.  The auto control requires several sensors that
aren’t present with the manual controls.

Parts list for 99 elantra timing belt change?

Is there anything else that needs to be put in besides the timing belt
itself? is there a cover gasket that should be replaced or something like a
tensioner? I know on my 300Z they recommend replacing the tensioner pulley
and stud with each belt change.

99 Elantra Drive Axle Question

Hello Everyone,

Well I attempted today to try to replace my drive axles and
ran into a problem with the lower ball joint. I had thought that I
could use the tie-rod separator tool on the lower ball joint as well.
It turns out that I can not get enough room to put the separator into
the ball joint. The factory manual calls for tool 09568-34000 which is
similar to 09568-31000, which is the tie rod separator. Is the 34000
separator something that is longer and thinner than the tie rod
separator? I want to make sure that I need a separate tool for the
ball joint or if I am doing something wrong.

Thanks in advance,
Nick

Rideroom.com

Hey all,

I just wanted to make a quick post about a new site, it’s www.rideroom.com.
It’s pretty much your basic automotive community site in the vain of
cardomain with pictures, forums, etc. It has a nicer, user friendly
interface as well as a bunch of other features.  The site just launched
late last week so I’m just trying to get the word out and see what people
think.

If you have a few extra minutes please feel free to take a look and if you
like it then definitely sign up and post your ride.

Thanks for your time and I hope to see you on rideroom.com soon :)

First '06 recall

Passenger belt somehow impinging on the recliner lever said to possibly
activate recline unexpectedly.   What was interesting the service guy
told us they just got the parts in a couple of days ago, after we got
our letter.   Doc

DETROIT’S auto executives have plenty to fret about, including serious
threats to their domestic companies from seemingly unstoppable Japanese
rivals. But what keeps the leaders of Toyota, Honda and Nissan up at
night?

The Heart of the Midsize Market

Reading the Tea Leaves on Quality (November 6, 2005) High on the list
must be Hyundai, a competitive juggernaut from South Korea that keeps
gaining, in sales and perceptions, with each new or redesigned model
that it rolls onto American roads. Its latest car, the redesigned 2006
Sonata, could serve as a diorama for the company’s remarkable progress
over the last decade – and a warning shot to Japan’s auto industry that
the Koreans have learned to play hardball.

While the previous Sonata was a clear imitation of the big-selling
class leaders, the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, the new one is truly
competitive with those cars in almost every way. It also raises the bar
among mainstream midsize cars in the safety features it includes on all
versions.

The car was redesigned with American tastes in mind, with contributions
from Hyundai’s design centers in California and Michigan. V-6 models
are built at a new plant in Montgomery, Ala., though four-cylinder cars
are assembled in South Korea.

Not only has this Korean company followed the playbook that the
Japanese used to steal market share from Detroit – making steady
improvements in quality and value, and branching out from inexpensive
entry-level cars to more pricey, more profitable models – it is also
following the …

94 Excell, valve tap

My daughters 94 excell (42,000 miles) has a valve that started tapping
today. (fairly loud) All fluids are normal. It runs great. I’m going to
remove the valve cover and start adjusting the valves. Is this O.K.? Is
there something I should know before doing this.

Fill on transmission oil on sonata '93

Hi

I have changed the drive shaft on my Sonata from 1993 with manual gearbox.
And in that operation a little of the transmission oil leaked.
There do I fill new oil on?

Best regards
