Two months ago I was having transmission problems with my ’99 Tiburon. The
transmission was sticking in 3rd gear or poping into 3rd gear. I brought
it the dealer and they replaced the transmission for me under warranty.
Now the same thing is happening again, but with extra twists. The
transmission shifts more harshly than it did before. Also in first gear,
sometime when I press the gas, the car just rev’s and then pops into gear.
I dropped it off at the dealership again this morning and I havent heard
anything yet. Anyone have any ideas on what to expect?

1k-2k rpm is low enough that pinging may not be abnormal under high load.
You should still have it checked.  It’s possible there’s a knock sensor
issue or that you’ve built up enough carbon to reduce the combustion area.
 An induction service may help.  What I like to do is to get two cans of GM
top engine cleaner, one aerosol, one liquid.  Spray the aerosol into the
throttle body per directions.  Then, using a pressurized fuel injector
cleaner apparatus, use a mixture of 1/4 top engine cleaner and 3/4
gasoline to run through the injectors.  The second half of this is a
procedure GM devised for cleaning injectors and freeing up piston rings.
This is not a diy job, you’ll have to pay someone to do it.

I have a Dutch model Elantra (2001) which is LHD.

I am registering it in the UK & need to permanently adjust the headlight
beam to dip to the left.
(stickers, beam deflectors and other non-permanent changes are not
acceptable)

Will it be possible to modify my current set of headlights (currently
dipping to the right) or do I need to buy a new unit/part.

Our local Hyundai dealer mechanic seemed very keen to replace the whole
unit – but I don’t know if this is really necessary.

Need to know what parts I need to install my DXZ845MC I got a wirng
diagram with the head unit and i can figure that out but need to know
whether or not I need anything separate, like a wiring harness etc. and
can I use the universal mounting bracket that comes with the head unit
because they have directions showing how to install using it and not using
it???? Again any help anybody could provide I would appreciate.

Hi. I have a 2002 Elantra. The dealer replaced the transmission due to the
2-3 upshift problem.Anyway, when it gets could here, around 0-C, the
transmission whines on a cold start. warms up and goes away in about 3-4
minutes. Fluid is up. Any ideas?? Sounds like its coming from the top of the
transmission and does it only when you shift into any gear.

2001 Elantra,automatic.I stop on the highway and when I start back up I
notice the check engine light on.As I get up to speed I hear why it came
on,it won’t shift into overdrive.The next time I stop, when I leave the
light is out and it shifts into overdrive.After the next stop,the light is
on and no overdrive.This is all happening on the turnpike with stops for
gas and coffee.At first I thought it was the coffee,but I geuss not.It
goes to the dealer on Monday,but are there any ideas what is happening?

My overdrive wont kick in on cold mornings and if it does it kicks in and
out until it runs for aboute 30 minutes. I took it to the transmission
shop and after 15 days they have changed the overdrive bands, oil temp
sensor, pulse generators, saftey switch, and said they have tested
everything and it never throws a code but it still isnt fixed and they
gave up , PLEASE help, i’m out of money and ideas

Does anyone have any helpful info on a DIY( 2002, 2.7LV6 engine )Sonata
timing belt change. I have read the shop manual and other info and feel that
I am up to speed for the job. Will replace auto tensioner and may replace
water pump as well…60K miles. Jody told me to take my tuneup to a mechanic
but I did that job myself with great satisfaction and success and hope that
will be true in this case as well. Stan

I have a huyndai Accent 1996, the temp gauge read high all the time, noting
wrong with my cooling system, antifreez is full. When I start when motor is
cold like over night the needle goes midway, then when I drive for a few
miles goes all the way. What is going on?
