Sirius or XM Oughta Have Deal With Hyundai

It appears the satellite radio companies do not yet have an arrangement with
our make.

This is not to be critical, merely constructive & suggestive

XM has deal with GM etal

Sirius has deal with Daimlier (sp?), Ford and possibly others

not all the models of the above manufacturers are eligible, and i presume they
just don’t think hyundai people are prospects

well, i would disagree with such assumption

hyundai owners are amongst the most discriminating and best informed, and the
luxury & pleasure of satellite radio is now within the realm or reality or
grasp of an adaptive hyundai consumer

Sirius seems to have the most non-music choices, but is something like only one
in nine sales of the satellite thingees

XM reportedly has sold a million so far

Sirius reportedly has only sold about 150,000

i think i might do sirius, because too much music is much too music, and sirius
apparently has LESS COMMERCIALS !

what the marketeers oughta do is have ancient ole euro classical music as
continuous background to talk & news, but that might be tooooooo compli-cat-ed
to engineer, though it’s reported we went to the moon or sumthin in 1969 (but
that was maybe because of the Tang in the space ship’s fuel tank)

2000 Sonata with hesitation problem – ideas?

Hello,

I have a friend with a 2000 Sonata with a problem – it hesitates when
accelerating and I’m thinking to check:

plugs & wires
air filter
poss air intake/MAF/MAP/?? (clean out if necessary)
fuel filter?
fuel pump (say it ain’t so!)?
run some STP/??? injector cleaner through it?

any other ideas or suggestions?  Maybe he just got a tank of bad gas & it’s
taking a while to work it out?  If nothing else, is there a website
specializing in solving Hyundai tech problems you want to direct me to?

Thanks!

99 tiburon check engine light question

Maybe someone in this ng can help me out. My wife’s 99 tiburon’s check
engine light came on the other day. It started to run a little rough
and doesn’t seem to have full engine power. On start up the light is
on steady, but after driving a bit it begins to flash. Once you stop
for a bit it goes on steady again. The owners manual says something
about exhaust gases being out of value? Anyway if anyone in this ng
ever had this problem with a 99 tiburon or other year I guess also
please let me know what it was. Thanks jimmy

Alloy Wheels

I will be collecting my ‘new’ (2000 model year) Sonata GSi today. It is the
first car I have had with alloy wheels.
In the past, when I have had new tyres fitted to a car, I noticed how the
tyre levers, used by the fitter, scrapped the paint from the edge of the
wheel.
What are people’s experiences with alloy wheels being damaged by tyre
fitters and is there a way to prevent damage?
Many thanks.

MIRROR STUCK! '01 HYUNDAI ACCENT

Hello,

This morning I couldn’t fully move the left outside mirror from my ’01
Accent. It’s a manual mirror, nothing electrical or fancy; I move it
by hand from the inside of the car. It’s moving to the left and right,
but not up and down. My right one is working properly.

1. WHAT CAN BE WRONG?
2. HOW DO I REMOVE MY LEFT OUTSIDE MIRROR IN ORDER TO SERVICE IT (I
cannot find it at http://www.hmaservice.com)?

Thank you,
Rob

'96 Accent Transaxle woes

Recently, my car has lost it’s ability to move in reverse. The shift selector moves into gear, but
when given gas, it simple stays put as if in park. Now my moms car a few years back had a
similiar problem, but they difference between that problem and my current one, is that her car
could be pushed backwards (many a time did I have to push that heavy Grand Le Mans) where
mine can’t. Also, I should add that when the vechicle is shifted into Neutral, it goes into Drive,
but Drive also works. Overdrive being turned on causes the car to really lag.

A friend, who’s mechanical inclination is no better than mine is speculating it may be a sensor
problem which he doesn’t believe should be too costly to replace. Then my father tends to think
that it may be a sequential (?? – I am not sure if that is exactly what he said) prob and that would
be very costly.

Pretty much… I was wondering if anyone else has any other ideas of how bad of shape I am
in and how much it’s going to take to fix it. This is our only car in a family of 4 so, we really
can’t afford to be without it for long, thusly i’m hoping that it is a problem that be quickly/ cheaply
repaired.

If anyone needs any other details to help diagnose this, just ask and I’ll do my best to provide.

1995 sonata problems

my alternator died recently, I lost all power on the road, the engine still
worked while I was giving it gas except very low acceleration at first (I
thought the transmission had died).

after alternator was fixed, the first few times I turned the engine on, at
idle, the RPM swung widely between 1000 and 2000 RPM. after backing out of
the driveway (smooth reverse) and putting it in drive, the first time I
accelerated forward, the acceleration was very rough and abrupt.

now these symptoms are gone, but motor sometimes vibrates at idle and RPMs
at idle oscillates quite fast around 750RPM (let’s say it goes fast between
730 and 780 RPM)

this didn’t really happen before (or maybe I started nottincing things
better after getting stuck in the middle of the road)

what could be the cause of this? could the engine control system have been
damaged?

Transmission Fail-Safe mode

I have a 1999 Accent that my daughter uses.  I have had this car for
about 2 years.  Every now and then, the transmission will drop into
3rd gear and stay there until your shut off the car and restart it.
At the same time, the check-engine light comes on.  I have had it to
the dealer about four times.  Twice they found nothing wrong, once
they changed the Pulse Generator, and the last time they changed some
sort of sensor/computer part.  Now, of course, it is happening
again!!!  Is this signalling a real problem with the tranny, and doing
just what it should to protect from further damage?  I made another
appointment, two weeks away, to have it looked at again.

Is anyone aware of any recalls or TSB’s for this problem, or has
anyone else experienced this?  I’m getting tired of hearing my
daughter say what a peice of junk the car is (she’ll enjoy walking if
that keeps up), and running out of miles on the used car coverage.
59,200 mi, not much left.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks,
Dan
