Hey Matt, did you freeze today?

For anyone that does not know, Matt has complained in the past that his
heating and AC are marginal in extreme temperatures. This morning was the
lowest temperature since I’ve had my Sonata, at -9°.  It was warm and comfy.
The engine did growl a bit starting up, but in seconds smoothed out.  Ohhhh,
those heated seats are nice too!

Power antenna on 2005 Sonata GLS

The power antenna on my 2005 Sonata GLS is stuck in a halfway extended
position. Turning the radio on/off does not result in any movement or
sound from the motor that extends/retracts the antenna.

My first thought was to check connections etc. I looked at hmaservice.com,
but I could not find diagrams. I would appreciate some pointers as to
where to look because the car is parked outside and it is too cold for me
to enjoy trying to figure out where to look by guessing alone ;-)

Thanks.

07 Santa Fe AWD Question?

Have one of these 07 Santa Fe Ltd AWD:

Each time the vehicle is started one must remember to depress the AWD
button.  While this is no "big" deal, in the winter it is almost
mandatory.

Is anyone (hyundaitech) aware if there is any way this can be set to
ON all the time?

Thanks

brake squeal

I had new pads installed and the rotors resurfaced on the front.   It did
not make any noise for a day or two afterwards.  They are now squealing when
I stop.  I took it back and they said they could not find anything wrong and
it should stop making the noise after they wear down a bit.  What’s the odds
of that happening?  Has anyone had the squealing to stop?

Genesis gets top ratings in February Consumer Reports

The Hyundai Genesis got top honors in the Large Upscale Sedans
category in the February 2009 issue of Consumer Reports.   The article
(Page 52) begins:

"The Hyundai Genesis outscores this month’s field of upscale sedans
and is now our highest rated vehicle in the category, just outscoring
the Lexus  ES  That accomplishment by the South Korean automaker
solidifies its reputation as a builder of high-quality vehicles in
several diverse automotive segments.

Spacious and well appointed, the rear-wheel-drive Genesis offers good
value and is a compelling alternative to luxury vehicles costing
thousands more."

The detailed evaluation of the Genesis (Page 54) emphasizes its
"luxurious and spacious interior," and "its smooth, punchy powertrain
and excellent brakes."  They were less enthusiastic about its ride
"which can be unsettled at times."
