Oil pan 97 Elantra 1.8 motor – Do I have to drop the exzust pipe :(

I have a 97 Elantra with a 1.8 motor, 5 sp.  160K miles  I am in the
middle of replacing the oil pan and need to know if there is a way
around removing the exzust pipe.  The motor brace and mounts were not
too bad but I wonder about the exzust pipe.

I can’t remove the oil pan.  The crank shaft and exzust pipe are making
it a pain!!

Any help would be appreated.
Thanks

Accent engine rattle on cold start

This seems like a silly question, but is it normal for a 2001 Accent’s
engine to give a rattling sound on a cold start? I had not noticed this
before because I normally have my window up when I start. Basically, if I
start the car after it has been sitting overnight, the engine idles with a
rattling sound for half a minute or so. It fades soon after, and will not
recur until the car has been shut down for a long time. Googling on this
issue pulls up a whole bunch of possibilities for a whole bunch of cars, but
for some cars, this is supposed to be normal. Is it?

Thanks.

Question for Hyundaitech

Thanks for responding to my earlier question on a stuck horn.  You suggested
to check the switch in the steering wheel.  I have not gone inside of a
steering wheel with air bags, is it OK to do so.  Is it easy to screw up?
Any hints on what to watch out for?  I can’t find anything on web tech about
it.  I checked web tech for the location of the horn relay and discovered
that the two fuse/relay charts (one under shop, other under ETM) has the
location of the horn relay and a headlight relay switched, one shows it in a
different place than the other.  Are the relays labeled so I can know which
is which?  thanks again!!

2006 Hyundai Sonata passenger buckle light

Does anyone else out there who owns an 06 Sonata have an issue with the
passenger seat belt buckle light on the dash board flashing when noone
is sitting in it?  I recently moved and placed a heavy box of glassware
and dishes on the front passenger seat (probably not the safest thing
to do…..) and the light never flashed; yet when i simply put my lunch
box on the front seat, it flashes like it’s going out of style.
and if i pick up a friend, the "passenger airbag off" light doesn’t
turn off when someone sits in the seat either.  if the car is off, and
a passenger sits in it, no problem, but if the car starts, moves above
the predetermined factory 6 MPH, then someone sits in it, you can
forget it

also, my sonata does make a sloshy sound from the fuel tank, but only
when its full, after about 50-75 or so miles it goes away.

if anyone has info regarding the passenger buckle light and airbag
light, i’d appreciate some feedback so i can get this safety feature
fixed

Hyundai Accent 2002 Rear Blinker

The rear blinkers have stopped working so I picked up two new bulbs
but am unable to figure out how to install them.  The owners manual
only shoes the front.  I looked for an opening in the trunk and
couldnt find one and I tried removing the entire tail light assembly
but cant find one of the screws.  Any idea how to replace the rear
tail lights?

Hyundai reliability and JD Power

J D Power 2006 vehicle dependability survey:

http://www.jdpower.com/studies_jdpower/pressrelease.asp?StudyID=1160

It rates reliability over 3 years, meaning this rates 2003 model vehicles.
Industry average is 227 probs per 100. Hyundai is 253, well below average.
Hyundai has only one car in the top 3 rankings, in the subcompact category.
That’s because in 2003, there are ONLY 3 subcompacts on the market.

So despite Hyundai’s good showings of some models in the JD Power initial
quality surveys (2003 Sonata was 2nd in its class) and the Consumer Reports
surveys, the company as a whole does lousy here. Why? Discuss.

Unable to Clean Cassette Player

The cassette player in my 2004 Santa Fe keeps telling me to

CLEAN PLAYR

… but I’ve tried two different cassette cleaners so several times so far
and I still get the same message.  It keeps spitting out my MP3 cassette
adapter (which has worked fine for a year).

All advice appreciated.
